Frequently Asked Questions
If you’re thinking about starting therapy, it’s completely normal to have questions. This page is here to help you understand what to expect from counselling—from how to book your first appointment to how sessions work, what they cost, and everything in between. If there’s anything else you’re wondering, feel free to get in touch.
How do I book an appointment?
You can book an appointment by emailling me at wellbeingtalk@proton.me. I aim to reply within 24 working hours. We’ll start with a free 10-15 minute introductory call to help us get to know each other a little and see whether counsellng with me feels like the right fit for you.
If you’ve already had your introductory call and are ready to book a session, just email me at the again at the same address and we’ll arrange a time.

What is your availability – do you offer evening appointments?
I offer appointments online or by telephone on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays during the day. A limited number of evening appointments are available – please ask about current availability when you get in touch.
What will it cost?
Sessions are £45, payable in advance by bank transfer.
How do online and phone sessions work?
Sessions can take place either online or by phone – whatever feels most comfortable for you. If you choose a telephone appointment, I’ll call you at the agreed time. For online sessions, I use Google Meet. I’ll send you a link via email ahead of time, just click to join. You’ll enter a virtual waiting room, and I’ll admit you when the session begins.
What if I don’t know where to start – or what to say?
This is a really common worry, you’re not alone in feeling this way. It’s rarely a problem once we get going. You’re free to begin wherever feels right for you. And if you’re not sure where to start, that’s okay too—I can ask gentle questions to help you find your way into the conversation.
This is also one of the reasons I offer a free introductory call—it gives you a chance to get a feel for how I work and whether you feel comfortable talking with me.
How many sessions will I need for counselling to work?
It’s completely understandable to wonder about this before starting therapy. There’s no one-size-fits-all answer—it depends on what you’d like support with. If you’re coming with a specific issue and have a clear focus, you might find 4–8 sessions helpful. If things feel more general—like a sense that something just isn’t quite right—longer-term work may be more suitable. You might already have a number of sessions in mind based on your goals, time, or budget—and that’s completely okay. We can talk about this together and work in a way that fits your needs.
There’s no set commitment, and we’ll go at your pace.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes—what you say in counselling is confidential, and what we talk about stays between us. There are just a few legal and ethical exceptions to this. I’ll go over these in more detail during our first session, so you’ll always know where you stand.
