Frequently Asked Questions
How are sessions carried out?
Sessions can be carried out either by telephone or online using Google Meet. For telephone appointments, I will call you at the session time and for online sessions I will forward you a link via email. This will take you to an online waiting room and I will admit you at the session time.
What happens at the initial appointment?
Feeling comfortable with your counsellor is important so this gives us chance to meet. During this session we will carry out an assessment of your current situation and explore what you are hoping to achieve from counselling. I will explain a little about how the process would work and answer any questions you may have. At the end of this session you can either book in or go away and have a think.
How many sessions will I need?
This is entirely up to you and something we can discuss. Some people find just a few sessions beneficial and feel ready to stop. Others may continue for a year or more.
What if I need to cancel an appointment?
Please be aware that when committing to counselling you are reserving the counsellors time exclusively for your use. I am rarely able to fill an appointment at short notice. If you do need to cancel you can do so without charge by giving at least 24 hours’ notice of the cancellation. Appointments cancelled within 24 hours will be charged in full.
What will it cost?
Sessions are £45, payable in advance by bank transfer.
Is your service confidential?
Confidentially is important and something I take very seriously. Rarely, if there is a risk of harm to yourself or someone else, I may need to break confidentially. Wherever possible, and if appropriate, I will discuss this with you first. This will be discussed more fully at our first appointment.
